The torso was very tight and it was difficult for me to take the shirt off. The arms were fairly loose compared to how the torso fit. I am 6'1", 160 lbs and I ordered a Medium. I expected the shirt to fit tight in order to layer underneath other clothes, but the cut is not proportional. If you are in between sizes like me, (I can wear mediums and larges) go for the larger size - even if you want it to fit tightly. A normal shirt would be looser through the torso and tighter around the shoulders and arms. Also, the fabric is pretty rough. I'm not sure that I could wear this as a base layer against my skin because it is so coarse. I am hoping that after a wash it will soften up and maybe fit better.   The good news is there are a lot of vintage thrift stores, new clothing manufactures, and pattern makers that specialize in selling 1940′s fashions. Shopping choices are more plentiful than ever. HOWEVER that doesn’t make it easy. Despite ALL the great options you can spend days, weeks, and months searching for accurate information and products. The web contains a lot of useful information but it’s poorly organized and too vague to be of any real help.
